Lesson 2 · Ages 6–9
Jesus, God's Son
God the Father sent his Son Jesus to be born of Mary, to show us his love and to save us.
A long time ago, an angel named Gabriel visited a young woman called Mary in the town of Nazareth. He told her that she would have a baby, and that the baby would be the Son of God. Mary said “yes” to God.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem, in a stable, and was laid in a manger. Shepherds came to worship him, and later wise men brought him gifts.
Jesus grew up with Mary and Joseph. When he was grown, he taught people about God’s love, healed the sick, welcomed children, and forgave sinners.
Jesus is true God and true man. Because he loves us so much, he died on the Cross to take away our sins. On the third day he rose from the dead! That is what we celebrate at Easter.
Jesus is our friend and our King. We can talk to him any time in prayer.
